Greetings, and welcome to the International Conference on Wastewater Treatment Technologies 2025.
It is our privilege to host this gathering in Hong Kong, a city whose history is defined by its role as a global meeting point. This identity inspires our theme and the very structure of this event: we have designed it not merely as a conference, but as a deliberate International Confluence.
This concept of flowing together finds its perfect analogue in the science we champion: microbial synergy for wastewater treatment. The most transformative advances in wastewater treatment emerge from technologies that harness the collaborative power of microorganisms to recover energy, purify water and extract resources. In this same spirit, our goal is to combine the expertise of the world's leading researchers, engineers and innovators assembled here. We aim to create a collaborative ecosystem that, like the microbial communities we study, produces solutions far greater than the sum of its parts.
Our program is dedicated to this synthesis of global knowledge into practical action. We will delve into the technical frontiers defining our field: advanced biological wastewater treatment processes, sludge digestion, membrane technologies, granular sludge and the digital transformation of treatment systems.
